$15.00
Species Info:
- General: A hardy, beginner-friendly species known for rapid colony growth. Queens are reddish-brown; workers are yellowish-brown. Highly adaptable and thrives across many setups.
- Diet: Feeds mainly on liquid sugars along with protein sources such as fruit flies, crickets, and mealworms. Steady protein accelerates colony growth.
- Temperature: Benefits from added heat, ideally 75-82°F, though the colony can also grow at room temperature.
- Diapause: Requires a 3-4 month diapause around 37-45°F. Use a wine cooler, mini fridge, or an unheated room that stays above freezing. Gradual cooling is recommended.
- Growth: Brood develops in 5-7 weeks. With heat and consistent feeding, colonies reach hundreds of workers in the first year and thousands by the second.
